Since I am going to be a teacher for lower grades I will probably use websites like these. These books are online books and living in a world where everything deals with technology I think this would be a good idea for kids. They can still read the books when they go home with their parents, and they can share with their parents what they did in school that day. I would also use it because its cheaper than buying a lot of books for all the students. Like that, they can all be on the computer in a computer lab for example.
A resource like this is also going to help students learn to use the computer, internet, and different technologies. This gets them used to using the internet for other grade levels. They can get used to what is and is not allowed on the internet. I like this website too because there is easy navigation that is very straightforward and to the point for students of lower grade levels.
Excel can be used to measure student’s progress throughout the school year. I would make a chart of how many words they can read from a particular excerpt and every once in a while retest the children so they can see where they are. I would use their school id to make it more confidential, but so parents know where their students stand throughout the year.
Our plans are to buy virtual geography programs. These are programs that allow students to take a tour of any area in the world on a bike, in a car, boat, or their method of transportation that they prefer. This would be good for geography teachers because they are able to show their kids hands on what they are teaching them. Each student needs their own account and that’s where the money is going to go towards.
