In reading my classmate’s blogs I noticed that many people doo agree that the different programs we learned about are going to be very helpful. I agree with all of them because this course was very well taught and a lot of effort was put into teaching us how to incorporate these programs into classes. Many students had good ideas on how they would be able to use these programs with different lessons plans that would be very effective for all their students. I can see how well this course has taught many students and how it is going to be very beneficial for them in the upcoming years.
I would most like to learn how to make movies. I have seen in my different classes how students make movies for different projects and I think this would be cool to learn. It would also help me a lot because I have a class in which our final project is to make a movie. I wish I knew better how to do it because how it is coming out so far is not too hot. I would like to know how to incorporate different sounds into it, different visual effects and different transitions.
I am going to achieve my future goals by having someone help me. I am going to keep all my projects from this class because they are probably going to help me in going through the process of making the different power points or excel worksheets. I will have someone who is real good with this to help me make sure I am doing everything right.

http://www.magickeys.com/books/
Since I am going to be a teacher for lower grades I will probably use websites like these. These books are online books and living in a world where everything deals with technology I think this would be a good idea for kids. They can still read the books when they go home with their parents, and they can share with their parents what they did in school that day. I would also use it because its cheaper than buying a lot of books for all the students. Like that, they can all be on the computer in a computer lab for example.
A resource like this is also going to help students learn to use the computer, internet, and different technologies. This gets them used to using the internet for other grade levels. They can get used to what is and is not allowed on the internet. I like this website too because there is easy navigation that is very straightforward and to the point for students of lower grade levels.
Excel can be used to measure student’s progress throughout the school year. I would make a chart of how many words they can read from a particular excerpt and every once in a while retest the children so they can see where they are. I would use their school id to make it more confidential, but so parents know where their students stand throughout the year.
Our plans are to buy virtual geography programs. These are programs that allow students to take a tour of any area in the world on a bike, in a car, boat, or their method of transportation that they prefer. This would be good for geography teachers because they are able to show their kids hands on what they are teaching them. Each student needs their own account and that’s where the money is going to go towards.

I think what my powerpoint was missing to make it better is more visual appeal. The grey backgroung was not that great it could have been more vibrant. Also, there could have been a different font. For a game show that was about little kids movies, it could have been a little more exciting.
Non computer technologies I would use are different lights around the classroom. I think that that makes it more exciting and the classroom a lot brighter. I would also inclue the projector that would aide in allowing there to be more information for the students.
I loved learning about how to make a little jeopardy game on slide show. I will probably use this more often to make things for my friends, and for when I am a teacher. This is a great skill to know for when it comes time to help students learn new material, or even study for a test. It engages kids because it is something different then paper pencil and a book.

I think the biggest advantage of using presentation software, is that students who are visual learned will gain so much more knowledge. It also makes it easy for a teacher to put together a lesson, and she wont forget most of the material she has to cover. The disadvantage is resorting always to using powerpoint. It is not the most creative way of producing information to students, and many teachers now a days are only using powerpoint to teach lessons.
I would use powerpoint to support student learning by including a lot of graphic and visual material for those who are visual learners. I will use colors, and many fonts so they can pick out the informtaion individually. I will include a lot of noise and videos for those who are auditory learns. Also, listening to me talk they will be able to learn that way.
There are not enough computres for many schools and this is limiting students abilities to resources. Many students who do not have computers at home and come to school to use the computers are not even given that chance because they dont have computers at school. More money needs to be put into purchasing technologies for classrooms.

I believe that using Web 2.0 for K-12 education is very benefital for the students. It allows for them to have very hands on experiences with technology. There are very goodprograms and softwares that are associated with it that can help students with several aspects. Pretty much anything can be taught using Web 2.0.
I think using wikipidea is a very unrealiable source. Like they say "anyone can publish on wikipidea" a lot of the information in wikipidea is very true, reliable, and many sources used on wikipidea are very excellet. But that is not to say that most information is false. As a form of research, it should not be accepeted.
I think learning all the different effects on slide show will be effective. As a teacher you have to always constaly engage your students and learning these effects would do so. For example, how to make a clip art object move acrosss the screen is a good thing to learn because like that you can do little things to keep the students interested.

I think the internet is very useful because there is just so much information out there for students. I think that anytime is good for a student. A lot of teachers dont like when students rely soley on the internet for recourses but I think as time progresses this is the most common form of research and database. I think that they should learn about what is reliable and what is not reliable so that they do not end up gullible to eveyrthing on the internet.
Some web based resources would be things such as gradebooks online where students and parents can check up on them whenever they feel its necessary. I think that dicusssion board and blogs are also helpful to students ebcause they can communicate effectively with others. Websites such as www.livejournal.com provide the means neccessary for students to network.
For the age range that I want to teach which is 3-4 I think that my supervising is going to have to be very careful. Students at this age are not totally aware of everything that can be done in a computer and I think at this age students are more prone to messing up the computer if they maltreat it. I think that its going to have to be one on one or a ratio of about 4 to 5 students per teacher.

As a teacher I dont think I would encourage outlines and stuff like that soley because my class is going to be a preschool class. If I had an older group of kids to teach I would encourage it for things such as essays, and tests that they would need to study for. I think programs like inspiration are very benefitial for this.
I think learning how to use a flow chart and learning to use inpriation is going to be very benefital for me. I think that it would help for things such as plans for the coming weeks and what kind of things teh children are learning.

One lesson plan I would create for my kindergarden class for them to learn their colors, is using the leap frog software. There are various subjects that are discussed in the software, but I would use the one that teachers about color. I would ask the school librarian, or the head of the computer lab to allow my class to come in and use the computer. I would probably do about 5 kids at a time because with an age group so young they need individual attention.
http://www.funlessonplans.com/ This webpage for lesson plans for early childhood seems to busy. When you first go to this webpage it seems to overwhelming. The colors all clash and it just seems as there is too much going on and that there is no way of finding what you really need. The links though are helpful because you can go on them and they will provide you with a lot of ideas for creating different activities for young children. The different pages are better set up and are easier to navigate through.

I have used MS Word as a student numerous of times since about fourth grade. Begining with that age, I was in the school's newspaper (although it wasn't much) and I used to use MS word for writing the articles that were assigned to me. I have also used them many times to write papers, or finish homework. I have seen my teachers use it for writing letters to take home to our parents, for creating quizes and tests and for creating notes. My eighth grade math teacher used to every day have a list of things to do and she would use MS word for those notes.
I will probably use MS Word as a teacher for also writing notes home, especially since I am going to be a pre school teacher. I would like for the parents to be aware oftheir students progress so I would probably have a lot of letters going home. I would also use it to create little quizes for the students and for probably even writing stories.
In this class I learned the header and footer thing. I have heard about that a lot but I never really knew what that was all about. I really didnt know what a header and a footer really were. After the assignment 2 I now know how to work one, and what it is useful for. I would always be so confused when I would have to write papers on how to include my name in every page without having to press 'enter' so many times for each page. But now I know

Post #1: How will I use technology in the future?
I believe computers are an important part of the educational experience because of all its many infinite uses. With a computer one is able to use it for communication means, work is saved easier, and the internet serves as a very useful medium of information. With a computer a teacher can create her own website that serves as a tool of reference for students who are not sure what the assignment is, when its due, or what is expected of the students for the coming weeks. With a computer there is no excuse of "the dog ate my homework" because homework can be saved and published, and it can be sent to the teacher completely unharmed. Lastly with the internet there is practically anything and everything that can be looked up. A student who is working on a project, research paper, or is just trying to look deeply into the information the teacher has provided for the day, can look up a myriad of websites useful to what it is they are looking up. With search engines such as Google, yahoo, and askjeeves, nothing is unsearchable.
As an early childhood education teacher, I believe that the primary way I will be using a computer is for the games and software available for children who are learning their abcs, and learning to read and write. Games from companies such as leap frog, or Milton Bradley are made available for children. I will also have a website for the parents so they are aware of their child's progress and where they stand in their educational growth. I will also on my websites have recourses such as calendars so that every parent has a way of knowing what is coming up, and what activities their children are going to be engaging in. I will probably also include pictures for the parents, they will be able to see what goes on during the day, and so that if at any point during the day the parents miss their children, they can always go to the website to know that their kid is safe and sound in school with me.
So for a paragraph of something random: since this is a class about Technology, do you guys remember when you got your first computer? I totally do! My mom and sister who was in high school at the time picked me up from "after school" and my sister was sitting in the front seat with this HUGE box on her legs. I don’t know how she wasn’t squashed to death I swear. I also remember when my mom first told me about "the internet" and that you can have an email that’s personal to you and people can write you letters and send it to your email. I was like NO FREAKIN WAY!! I also remember when my mom got her first cell phone, it was the size of a brick of course, and she got the first 100 minutes free! ahah oh technology it has changed GREATLY! Oh yeah I also remember, in 5th grade my friend had a website like one of those yahoo ones, and my name was on it. I remember freaking out and screaming because "my name was on the internet" !!!!

Introduction
Hi class! I am in this class because I am an Education major. I am not sure if I want to do Special Education or Early Childhood education yet.
Just like our teacher, I love to travel. I used to travel a lot with one of my older sisters but now that she has a kid, and is in her residency to become a ObGyn its harder for us to travel. I now like to travel with my boyfriend, although weve only had some road trips around Florida.
I love to dance and be with my friends. I have been dancing since I was about 3 but kind of qui in like 10th grade to pursue other things.
I hope this was interesting enough for you guys
